this is my newly completed masterpiece! anyone find this nice? i personally like it alot so i framed it up nicely =)
today was exceptionally enjoyable. gave Lydia tuition in the early afternoon. glad it's finally the last session. her A level chemistry is gonna be over in no time. and she should be able to score predictably well. she kinda aced her prelims 2 months ago. a smart and hardworking girl she is. i'm glad to help her achieve the grades she actually deserves. it's an honour to have this teacher-student-friend relationship. guess years down the road this respect and friendship won't just simply end. she's a nice friend to keep for life since she's already attached. haha!

after that met jason at bugis to travel down to pasir ris. met my dear friend steven and the 3 of us shared a cab to changi beach club to play squash. steven just came back from switzerland last week and he actually bought me tax free Bailey's Irish Cream from DFS which i asked for! he's a real sincere and good friend. interesting and meaningful company in the absence of my best friend who is now still in US. this guys is like the boss of an IT firm and runs the firm on his own with his staff of course. he's quite established financially. i quite admire his down to earth character despite his wealthy upbringing. he's independent and knowledgeable. good conversationalist. and i can go on talking about his good attributes. the only difference we have is probably some moral issues which i won't elaborate on much. basically it has something to do with sex, prostitutes and a liberal society. he had his fair share of education in Australia and was exposed to the open society over there. he's been exposed to many things that i have never been coz i haven't been really out of Singapore. that explains his differing views on some issues like the red light district of Geylang and related stuff. anyway i do enjoy his intelligent company. so did jason. knowing him, he was quite reluctant to travel all the way from panjang to changi. but for the fact that before steven left for his switzerland trip, he came over to cashew heights to play squash with us, jason obliged to return the sincerity of our friend. so we had an enjoyable evening from 5pm to 7.30pm where we played squash non stop. haha. after showering in the luxurious restroom, we left the club for tampines mall coz i suggested dining at pastamania. was utterly famished and wanted to carbo-load. so ordered like ocean baked pasta, potato salad, hawaiian pizza, mushroom cream soup, garlic bread and ice lemon tea. what a feast although it wasn't a buffet. i shall buffet someday soon when i can find company! miss buffet. so reached home not too early. my siblings were all asleep already. they have sch tmr. and i need to restring both my rackets tmr as the strings broke one after another. so need to wake up early tmr to find my sponsor and settle some issues.

shall post again soon when i have the time. and i have a good feeling that i will be having alot of time soon coz my exams are coming soon. meaning no more sch and lectures. but lotsa time to plan my studying and other activities to see out my exam period. looking forward to a possible ktv session next week organised by chuan. my SMU squash students very onZ. really like their spirit. they always make me happy. and i make them happy too. cheers man!

spent some time reading through this report churned out by eHarmony.com.. realised how detailed and lengthy this is.. My gosh! think whoever can be my best match in life must be a superwoman man.. haha =)

No person can be fully described or defined by a few short sentences. However, here are several of the most important characteristics revealed by your eHarmony Compatibility Profile that you should keep in mind as you search for your ideal mate:

Some of your ideal mate's strongest personality characteristics are:

She tends to take charge when things need to get done.

She enjoys doing things well and takes pride in what she does.

She generally does her best to be honest in all situations, even when it can be difficult.

She is very interested in knowing and learning about certain things.

Some important qualities that your ideal partner brings to the relationship are:

She loves to spend time catching up with friends.

Her easy conversational manner makes her a great companion.

She tends to be generous and supportive of her friends.

She sometimes enjoys sharing a great joke or humorous movie with friends.

Important goals and values for your ideal mate in a relationship are:

She needs to feel that she is helping others.

Working to give something back into the community is important to her.

Sharing parenting values and ideas is important to her.

She will be able to share your core spiritual beliefs.

Social Orientation describes how much of your behavior is motivated by the desire to get along with and be liked by other people, as well as how much is driven by the desire to be seen as an effective problem solver who is self sufficient. People with a strong External Orientation place a high value on communicating their thoughts and feelings with other people. People with a strong Internal Orientation place a high value on individual effectiveness, competence and autonomy. The dimensions that we assess as part of your Social Orientation are Conflict Management, Character, Vitality and Security, Communication Style, Kindness and Autonomy.

Based on your profile, you are most compatible with women who fit the following descriptions:

Communication: You will have the best relationship with a woman who believes easy conversation is essential to a good relationship. She's comfortable speaking her mind, but she also sees the importance of listening to someone else's point of view. Friends and family appreciate her ability to listen and speak with candor.

Kindness: Your ideal mate goes out of her way to do nice things for you. She's the kind of person who will let you know she cares, whether it's surprising you with baseball tickets or making you your favorite meal. She won't take you for granted. She wants to be there for you when you have a problem.

Some additional details about your ideal mate:

Character: Your ideal mate is a woman who doesn't pretend to be perfect. She does, however, make a sincere effort to relate to other people. She's the type of person who's nice but who is by no means a saint. She will appreciate your ability to get along with others but won't expect you to always put the needs of others before your own.

Autonomy: You will be best matched with someone who wants to know all of the important things about your past. She'll be equally interested in living in the present and planning a future. She won't need to know every detail about your life or every thought that crosses your mind. She's the kind of person who sees herself as part of a couple but still maintains her independence and identity.

Vitality and Security: You need a woman who is honest and reliable. She has a good understanding of what it takes to make a relationship work over the long haul. She wants to build a relationship that will last but doesn't need you for constant support.

Conflict Resolution: You'll be happiest with a woman who tries to avoid conflict altogether. When she does have a disagreement, she tries to keep the peace instead of adding fuel to the fire. Resolving the argument is generally more important to her than being right, but she will stand up for herself.

The Extraversion scale assesses how you feel when you are around people. Extroverts are generally comfortable at the center of attention. They rarely feel a need for "alone time" and are almost always eager to meet new people. Introverts, on the other hand, avoid the spotlight when they can, approach many social gatherings with hesitation, and relish time spent with good friends whom they know well. While most people exhibit a mix of Introvert and Extrovert qualities based on what kind of social situation they are in, people who are strongly Extroverted often place the largest value on having many friends and making new friends easily. In contrast, people who are strongly Introverted generally place the highest value on having a few very deep and meaningful friendships. The dimensions of your profile which are associated with Extraversion are Emotional Energy, Sociability, Adaptability, Humor, Romantic Passion and Dominance.

Based on your profile, you are most compatible with women who fit the following descriptions:

Adaptability: Your ideal mate is someone who can think outside the box when faced with a problem. She's able to think of creative ways to solve a problem or resolve an argument. She tries to approach challenges with an open mind so that she's not tied to conventional solutions. Friends generally describe her as the kind of person who is calm in a crisis.

Romantic Passion: Your ideal mate is a sensual person who enjoys occasional romantic gestures like a night of soft music, candles and good conversation. But she doesn't overemphasize romance or put unrealistic expectations on her partner. She knows there are more important things in a relationship.

Some additional details about your ideal mate:

Emotional Energy: You'll be happiest with a woman who's outgoing and vivacious but doesn't need to always be on the move. She'd generally rather do something than talk about it, whether it's a new hobby or a project at work.

Dominance: You are best suited to someone who doesn't take competition to extremes. She likes to win but doesn't need to do so at all costs. She is aggressive when the situation warrants it, such as when vying for a promotion or playing tennis in front of a crowd, but can accept a loss with grace.

Sociability: You'll be happiest with a woman who likes to spend time with old friends and make new ones. She might not always be the first to strike up a conversation with a stranger, but she is rarely tongue-tied once the conversation is underway. At parties, she's the type of person who isn't afraid to venture outside her group of friends.

Humor: Your ideal mate is the kind of woman who is funny and interesting. Sometimes, she likes telling jokes and making people laugh with things like one-liners or satirical observations about friends and family. But she doesn't need to be a constant one-woman show.

Openness refers to a person's willingness to experience new and creative ideas. People who score low on Openness tend to place a high value on tradition and belonging to a group. People who score high on Openness tend to place a high value on imagination and individualism. Extreme scores on Openness also often distinguish between people who enjoy thinking in symbols and abstractions to people who prefer ideas which are clear and concrete. The dimensions of your profile that we consider as part of Openness are Artistic Passion, Curiosity and Intellect.

Based on your profile, you are most compatible with women who fit the following descriptions:

Curiosity: You will be well matched with a woman who likes to understand the world around her. She's generally inquisitive and knowledgeable about subjects that pertain to her life, whether she's a politics junkie or a baseball fan. If she's not interested in an issue, she probably won't feel compelled to read up on it just to expand her knowledge.

Artistic Passion: You are best suited to someone who wants art and culture in her life. She probably enjoys attending events and performances, such as the theater, poetry readings and art exhibitions. Friends see her as the kind of person who needs regular exposure to the arts in order to be happy.

Intellect: Your ideal mate is knowledgeable and well-read. She has varied interests but isn't driven to be an expert on everything. She values education but isn't consumed by it. She doesn't need to be the smartest person in the room.

Physicality separates people who enjoy being physically energetic and active from those who are uncomfortable or dislike engaging in sports or strenuous activity. Some people push life to the limit, scaling mountains or competing in triathlons. People with a less demanding sense of Physicality enjoy looking at mountains more than climbing them. The dimensions of your profile which compose the most important aspects of your Physicality are Appearance, Physical Energy and Sexual Passion.

Based on your profile, you are most compatible with women who fit the following descriptions:

Physical Energy: You are most compatible with someone who may have a hard time sitting still. She's the kind of person who's energetic and active, whether she's heading out for a jog or a mountain biking trek. She generally feels best at the end of a day if she's gotten some kind of exercise.

Sexual Passion: Your ideal companion is looking for the surge of physical excitement that comes with falling in love. When she's with her partner, she expects a physical connection that goes beyond compatible personalities and interests. Physical chemistry isn't her only need, or even her main one, but she does want to feel a strong desire for her partner.

Appearance: You are most compatible with a woman who wants to look good but doesn't obsess over it. She will appreciate the time and effort you put into your appearance and be happy with the end result. Ultimately, however, she is more concerned with who you are than what you look like.

Goal Orientation refers to the drive to plan for the future versus the urge to live in the moment. People who score low on Goal Orientation are generally spontaneous and free spirited. They are likely to act on their first impulse and worry about the consequences afterwards and place a high value on being clever and lucky. People who score high on Goal Orientation, on the other hand, are more driven to think about future consequences before acting, place a high value on being wise and cautious, and like to always put their best foot forward. The dimensions of your profile that relate to your Goal Orientation are Industry, Ambition, Organization and Education.

Based on your profile, you are most compatible with women who fit the following descriptions:

Organization: Your ideal mate is reliable. She isn't the type of person who constantly changes her mind. Her thoughts and her life are well put together. She is disciplined and believes in long-term planning.

Industry: You are best suited to a woman who likes to stay busy. You will find it hard to relate to anyone who is lazy, unproductive or inefficient. Your ideal mate is someone who places a high value on pulling her own weight, whether it's a project at work or her share of household chores.

Some additional details about your ideal mate:

Ambition: Your ideal mate is the kind of person who strives to be the best at what she does. She understands your desire to be recognized for your accomplishments. But she won't turn her quest for success into something that will dominate her life. Things like family, friends and time to herself are important to her.

Education: Your ideal mate is a woman who wants her partner to be her intellectual equal. She's passionate about ideas, so she is looking for someone who is interested in discussing things like religion, politics, ethics or science. If a man is unable to converse intellectually, she generally loses interest.

While day-to-day events play a major role in our feelings, there are deep-seated patterns of emotion that underlie our personality and stretch across the span of our lives. These patterns are considered your Emotional Temperament. People who score high on Emotional Temperament are generally upbeat about life and are slow to get upset in the face of minor setbacks or disappointments. People who score low on Emotional Temperament are more likely to experience feelings such as anxiety, anger and depression on a regular basis. The dimensions of your profile that compose your Emotional Temperament are Mood Management, Self-Concept, Emotional Status, Anger Management and Obstreperousness.

Based on your profile, you are most compatible with women who fit the following descriptions:

Mood Management: You will be most satisfied with a woman who avoids letting her bad moods affect others. When she is feeling down, she's considerate of others by avoiding them or being careful not to be rude. Even when she's having a bad day, she isn't overly sensitive.

Self-Concept: Your ideal match is someone who won't change herself just to fit in. She believes in herself and doesn't look to others for approval. Other people see her as self-assured and well adjusted.

Some additional details about your ideal mate:

Emotional Status: You are best suited to a woman who is generally happy and hopeful for the future. There are things in her life she'd like to improve, but she generally has faith that she'll attain her goals. She's not the type of person to overreact when she has a problem. Friends see her as someone who tries to focus on the positive.

Obstreperousness: Your ideal mate is someone who isn't afraid to stand up for her opinions, but doesn't always feel the need to do so. You need someone who has beliefs and confidence strong enough to match your own. However, you will not do well with someone who needs to dominate every conversation and win every argument. You will do best with someone who knows when to speak her mind, and when to just go along with the people around her.

Anger Management: You will be happiest with a woman who controls her temper. Generally speaking, she has a long fuse. When she does get mad, she doesn't take it out on others or blame them for her frustration.

Many significant ingredients, like upbringing, family goals and spirituality combine to form a person's values and beliefs. Whatever form they take, your values are one of the most powerful determinants of your behavior. Values also play a large role in who we feel comfortable being around and who we find attractive. Dissimilarity in values generally causes discomfort or awkwardness in social situations. Although close friends, family and loved ones can often have one or two stark contrasts in their values, this is made possible by a greater number of shared values, backgrounds and experiences that provide a framework of comfort and similarity. When building an intimate relationship, establishing shared values early on is key to long-term success. The dimensions that we consider as part of your Personal Values are Traditionalism, Spirituality, Family Goals and Altruism.

Based on your profile, you are most compatible with women who fit the following descriptions:

Family Goals: Your ideal mate shares your desires to start a new family and experience the joys of parenthood. She loves kids and expects that they will play a central role in her life.

Family Background: Your ideal mate has a good relationship with her family, but it's not perfect. They enjoy spending time together but do have occasional disagreements. She's understands that family dynamics can work even when they're not perfect.

Some additional details about your ideal mate:

Spirituality: Your ideal mate is someone who is probably either involved in a religious community or who has an individualistic spiritual life. She's the kind of person who finds herself drawn on occasion to faith communities. She might attend services but may not be an active member of a congregation.

Traditionalism: You'll be happiest with a woman who considers herself a good person: She has strong values and her moral beliefs are an important part of who she is. She probably believes that values related to religion, country and family provide important general guidelines for life.

Altruism: Your ideal mate is someone who cares about the needy. She believes society is dependent on everyone to solve problems, so she turns her convictions into action. Perhaps she volunteers at the local soup kitchen or organizes a recycling or clothing drive. She's known for her willingness to do whatever she can to assist others.

Sunday. the 1st Sunday after my exams was spent largely at expo and changi airport. if you know me well enough i rarely travel to such places of interest especially when they are in the eastern part of the country. the Sitex exhibition was the main reason why i was there. cool gadgets. big boyz toys they call it. haha. somehow majority of those sales pple who served me from most booths were girls. not that i picked on them but they just happen to be free. and they know their stuff. was sourcing for digital camera, micro hi-fi, nano silicon OAD, screen protector, plasma TV and engrossing myself in the latest technologies. it was the last day of the exhibition. pple were slashing prices and bundling freebies as usual. was nearly persuaded to purchase a Samsung digital camera with lotsa freebies thrown in. but i just managed to hold my wallet. that salesman must be pissed after trying too hard. the prices of digital cameras are quite steep. i'm sure i can get better deals. maybe on Ebay or somewhere.

my friend and i left the expo sitex exhibition and headed for changi airport. i seriously haven't been there for ages. it's changed alot. the galleries are not that spectacular anymore. although the one at T1 is still cool, the one at T2 where u can watch planes take off cannot make it. i wonder what i was doing there. can't even watch the planes take off. boring. added on to my misery when i reached home after finish watching EPL newcastle lost without owen again. he better come back soon. life without him is tough.

someone made my day significant today. that's why i'm blogging. there haven't been interesting happenings around for so long. well Jillian was online. chatted with her for quite a while. but that wasn't quite the reason.

151. i got on this SBS bus 151 at the stop opposite Ngee Ann Poly early morning. rush hour again. so no choice had to squeeze up the bus. this bus driver was a china-man. he sounded like he was from china. his slang was obvious when he tried to politely will people to move to the rear. the bus was obviously packed to the max already by the time it left the stop. at the next stop, there were people flagging for the bus. astonishingly the driver stopped the bus and opened the door even though no one pressed the bell to alight and for goodness sake there's no way to cram even one more skinny person up the bus. he waited for a while before deciding to close the front doors. this isn't a great deal. but. story's not over.

the bus was approaching the next stop. lo and behold. he stopped the bus again coz there were people flagging for it. this time someone tried squeezing up but to no avail. again the bus was delayed by another few minutes but it didn't pick up any extra passengers.

at the next stop. horrors of horrors. the bus stopped again. it's like never gonna not stop at any stops. doesn't this bus driver have any common sense? that's super duper time wasting. mind you it's a non air-con bus. everyone's sweaty and turned off by the speed of travelling. really WOLS. and this driver. he made an incredible record. out of 8 traffic lights from Ngee Ann Poly to NUS he kena all 8 red lights. haha. best. plate number 1893. i must buy 4D. no! should be TOTO coz it's Monday.

i couldn't believe. it's still not over. after lecture i was waiting for 151 from opposite YIH at about 3pm. had to give tuition at somewhere near KAP at 3.30pm. stroke of luck again. 1893. that china man driver. if i buy TOTO today i sure win man. i hope he's blessed with common sense soon in the near future.

hello! i'm finally blogging again. there might really be a blue moon tonight for all you know. haha. anyway. in May i've had no motivation to blog. come June when my best friend came back from US i was so busy keeping myself busy. all the way till July. which is now. tuition. squash coaching. swimming. singing. buffet. occasional mahjong. there's gotta be more to life man!

realised i had a hangover after exams in May. i couldn't get used to not going to school. i couldn't believe the stress of taking 6 modules was finally over. i couldn't find a proper job. everyday was just plain boring. painful to pass. until the day i saw Danitza. 23rd of May. Vesak Day. what a day 2 months ago. i'm not kidding but that day was kinda a turning point for me. from then on things that happened have been meaningful as well as wonderful. i realised i just had to keep doing meaningful things to keep myself busy so that i won't lament about wasting my precious time doing nothing. and i did it.

i learnt alot of things this hols. it's my first university summer break for 3 months. i kinda wasted the 1st month which is pathetic. losing money while playing mahjong. not working and eating v. little to save money. playing basketball and injuring myself. luckily the 2nd month and 3rd month was spent on more constructive stuff. tuition. squash coaching. those rendered some timely income. great to keep in touch with squash again though. supported Jillian through her tournaments. it was nice seeing her grow in maturity of her game. my best friend came back from US. that was another joyous thing. best company i can have. table-tennis. basketball. singing. swimming. buffet. watching soccer. sleeping over. best activity partners you can say. my life's been like going up up and up. haha. like a balloon filled with helium gas floating from the earth to space. i shall be happy even though school's starting soon. Joy to all pple!

it's been 10 days since i last blogged. how's my life? well. i'll likened it to newcastle's winning streak of 4 games in 10 days. enjoyable. that's the word. i can foresee the busy me in the next 2 months. tons of reports and research papers due. CAs. exams. squash competitions. all these are personal challenges. i'm recharged and rejuvenated. ready for the stressful days ahead. hope for the best. and prepare for the worst. i'm doing the latter now. NO FEAR! holidays will come. haha.

so turned out i had to skip an afternoon lecture. just for the sake of going to town with Qubee not for anything else but to visit the Asian Civilization Museum to churn out a report by Friday. on a plus note. the exhibits were rare and unique. basically an eye-opener. but history can be dull. especially when you try to speculate certain trends of convergence and divergence. there's no actual answer. you can only guess. what's the point of guessing without knowing the answer? ask the historians.

chanced upon a funny topic. Tian Cai you should read this.
i brought my sister for a haircut recently. there was no more QB House. the name changed to EC House. i was wondering how come they changed the name to EC House. and i found out "EC" meant "Express Cut". so i'm fine with that. then what did QB stand for previously? and does it mean QB doesn't own it anymore? i was on the bus asking Qubee and he said. the initials are still the same person. and i was laughing away.

finally blogging again. this is really an accomplishment. haha. to find time to blog. today was an exceptionally good day. was so punctual for lab practical. and today's practical was so fun. everyone was having fun anyway.

after lab. had lunch with my lab partner. one of my friend described her as gentle and feminine. haha. hinting me to chase her ahh. well i've got someone else in mind now. so i won't two-time. just following my principle. but she's a nice friend to have.

during lunch. my sister's teacher called me. told me she's suspected of developing chicken pox. that's like so out of the blue. she was still alright this morning. no rashes or anything. so interesting. and so i got my dad to fetch her to see a doctor coz i was still having lessons. interestingly she did get chicken pox. now my one week break would be spent staying at home taking care of her.

after lessons. basketball. only played like 45 mins before it started pouring. cats and dogs. but that 45 mins was satisfying enough. my shooting percentage was like 90%. haha. and i got like so many baskets in from long range. i shot one 3 pointer and it went it. that's 100% for 3 pointer. haha. anyway nice to regain my superb shooting form after being dormant for so long. 45 mins of exercise today. good enough. i'm conserving energy for 3 hours of squash tomorrow.

anyway it's mid sem break now. will make it a point to blog again in the near future. maybe tomorrow. haha. oh newcastle finally won! yay!

Monday, January 24, 2005

i actually saw a gay attending the same lecture as me. in faculty of arts and social science. it was a lecture on contemporary southeast asian studies. this guy. looked like a malay. dunno if he's one. wore a sleeveless furry light blue jacket covering a singlet. needless to say the "sleevelessness" exposed his well toned biceps and triceps. the way he posed in front of the lecturer. was with some kinda flirtatious feminine grace. my eyes literally popped out. goosebumps. i can never stand the sight of such gay looking people with such behaviour.

qubee showed me how to play dota all stars. quite a cool game i must say. he's very pro at such games. pity i don't have the time to explore and master it now. probably will have to wait till holiday periods.

had lecture till 8pm. what a long day. and there's lab practical tmr morning. i deserve some much needed rest. shall not sleep late today.

Saturday, January 22, 2005

morning call at 7am on a saturday morning. what a day to wake up early. everyone else must be still sleeping. because yesterday was hari raya and today was a saturday. and i was proven right. the streets were like so empty at 8am. reached sun tec way before 9am.

magic pre-release tournament. that was probably my 4th pre-release if i remembered correctly. legions. mirrodin. fifth dawn. betrayers. yeah got it right. amazed that a light breakfast lasted me throughout the non-stop 6 hours. maybe it's because when you are too engrossed in doing something you'll forget about hunger. well. easily got straight into the competition mood. won 2 rounds. lost 2 rounds. so it's even. not a bad achievement. could have been better if i had a couple of good rares. oh! and there was a female player among hundreds of guys. how on earth would a girl love card games? it's bewildering.

anyway. the term had started. hope taking 6 modules won't kill me. my time table is so packed. like those cartons of packet drinks. i think that's the best analogy i can find. well. plus. tuition. squash. no time for anything else. occasionally try to squeeze some time for mahjong and basketball. i must endure! there's still chinese new year holidays. haha. but again. after that i have to finish 3 projects. maybe i should already be glad. that there's chinese new year for me to enjoy. or maybe not. if my grandfather happen to pass away. *touch wood*

i know i shouldn't expect too much. it doesn't make sense not to expect. this quote had been on my mind for too long. *hope for the best. prepare for the worst.* i wonder if the person who came up with this had an optimistic or pessimistic point of view. it could be both. but the actions that follow are different. hope. prepare. the former - in your dreams. the latter - you better do something about it. is it supposed to be a paradox?

*something i retrieved from my previous blog..*

"In the course of living, many people are disappointed when others do not live up (or down) to their expectations. In order to be happy, some expectations must be dropped. These unrealistic and unhealthy expectations are three of the main culprits."

1. Do not EXPECT appreciation. When others say, "Thank you," or in any way show their gratitude, be happy. It is a gift!

2. Do not EXPECT others to make you happy. They simply cannot do that. Make yourself happy and share your joy with others.

3. Do not expect NOT to be let down. At times, people will simply not come through for you in the way you need. Forgive them and move on. Get rid of these three expectations and you will be getting rid of daily disappointment!

I wonder who thought of this. So smart. Why can't people live a life of virtually no expectation? Why do people have expectation? Why do "bo-chup" people still exist in this world? To give and not expect is like repaying something which you owe.. sounds as if i owe the whole world something..

realised how sharp a shooter i can be today. again thanks to my buddy. our tag team is still as strong. there's always a belief that we could win. again accuracy wins the day. haha. reminds me of the good old days when we used to challenge the 1.95 ang-moh.

anyway these few days have been really enjoyable. in the company of my close friends and best friends. what more can i ask for. we have to treasure our time together. i'm already so busy with tuition and squash. lucky that i'm still single. otherwise i may not have the time to rekindle our memories. haha.

i haven't enjoyed playing basketball for very long. my buddy just came back from the US and we played basketball. "shiok". the complimentary feeling is like forever there even after months of untouching. haha. how i wished this could happen more often. i have to wait till next summer. he's flying back soon.

larry made me ponder. why should i open myself to other girls? why not try dating other girls? maybe i shouldn't have liked ******* in the first place. but what's wrong with liking someone? i knew it's impossible between us now and in the near future. i once said i would wait on her. my friends said i would be a fool to do that. what if she turned her back on you eventually? i would have waited for... nothing.

what jason said made some sense. first - put her on holding list. secondly - not to miss out on other eligible girls. well. that's cruel. but i don't think like him. i'll feel guilty if my heart were to be in two different places. i just can't bring myself to like another girl when another is still in my heart. but if i ever got over the first one i would never turn back. let alone put her on holding list. so should i give her up? can i forget her? what should i do?

found some nice meaningful quotes from my buddy's blog.

giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back. don't expect love in return. just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't. be content it grew in yours. it takes only a minute to get a crush on someone. an hour to like someone. and a day to love someone. but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. don't go for looks. they can deceive. don't go for wealth. even that fades away. go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. find the one that makes your heart smile.

find the one that makes your heart smile. i like that one. yeah.

biodiversity. OPEN BOOK EXAM. it wasn't exactly a new thing to me. i had a similiar experience back in secondary sch. it was a geog test. everyone flunked coz there was no time to check for the answers and copy them down word for word. the trick to OPEN BOOK EXAM is the answers can never be found in references directly. as i had expected. "study like never study". luckily i remembered to put on my thinking cap. glad i'm quite smart. otherwise i would have handed in a blank answer script. 2 up, 3 more to go!

just finished my english paper. it was kinda a breeze. horribly wonderful chem prac. I got 1 A+, 1 C+ and 1 A-. The one i got C+ - i didn't get the compound right coz it got contaminated and i kinda copied that from someone else. realised my own works are more trustworthy. A+ & A-. i will treasure and do my own work from now. NEVER COPY WHOLESALE. if want to copy also must copy smart.

someone said i'm a paedophile.. but i don't mind.. when you think of true love it has no limitations..
they say she's an extrovert - to me she's both an extrovert and introvert.
i said she's got alot of good points - they say love is blind
i can see all her good and bad points.. they have nothing more to say
it's not about compromising..
how did she exactly gave me the right feeling.. as in fit into my criteria
when my expectations are so high.. god knows..
"Jillian.. i said i came close to finding it" but i didn't complete the sentence.."now i've found it in you.."
my heart was mended from a million smithereens.. someone gave my heart hope to be able to love unconditionally again..
you are a kind hearted, understanding and appreciative gal.. it's undeniable though it's not written all over your face.. it can be felt with the heart and truly seen with the eyes..

seriously u wait till she's sec4 i promise u total transformation n might haf some characteristics of a bitch coz most mgs girls are lidat

i'll bet her to prove u wrong.. only her... she's one of a kind.. my judgement of any gal i'm interested in hasn't failed me yet

like whether u are a fiercely loyal person
faithful partner
or someone who's easily ruled by jealousy
are appreciative of things that cannot be bought with money
appreciative of thoughts
will u treasure things that are dear to you for life

whether you are romantic yet practical down to earth not bitchy not any percent bitchy whether u are caring and care about pple n things generally

meticulous perfectionist organised dun like being affected by other gan jiong pple loyal friend if i decide to be serious i'll put my best in it

true love does not mean possession or jealousy. it's generosity.
i keep reminding myself of this sentence to keep myself from overindulgence of doses of happiness can u believe it

i've got such a vulnerable heart
it keeps me guessing what is love and if it's already around sometimes u cannot see but u can only feel

when there's true love there can never be hatred
haha~ but it's only a thin line b/w love and hatred, b/w happiness and disappointment

yesterday was kinda e last session coz her exams gonna be over
on my way home i juz msged her soemthing like
i love her company n she made me happy
then i added in a teaser "too bad u dun like me and "i will miss you"
wad do u understand?
i kept her guessing n she kept me guessing
i'll find out soon.. if love's in the air
if absence makes the heart grow fonder
haha~ it'll make yr heart sick... den if she doesn't haf any response den u die liao.
i have this feeling i'm accidentally in love
i can't possibly ask her right in the face if she feels this way rite
though it's being frank n straightforward it'll scare pple and usu you'll get a negative answer
i'll like tell her secretly sneak a note or something lah if she really like me or love my company keep it to herself dun tell me i dun want to know now
when u really think it's love then it's worth it to tell me..
sneaky not a nice word to use but that's love it's always round the corner rite you can't see it though it's close by until u turn ur direction
ya... a bit hard... haha~ scarly u get forgotten how?
if i can get forgotten easily then i'm in trouble
so i should write a note
haha~ young gals do forget things easily if they dun see them often... haha~ or forget the feeling
saying "i wonder if you miss me"
haha~ telling her don't forget me?
tell her no use one coz tell like never tell
she can forget her formula
sure got chance to forget me
this one different... it's more real life... u dun forget a real life thing easily
unless she really treasure
that's what i'm lookin for
she's quite cool n cynical on the outside
but she's sensitive n romantic inside
she's quite self protective like me sometimes
but i can give alot in a relationship
such tt i can't protect myself from being hurt
one thing unqiue abt her is her laughter
it's the best medicine for my soulbreathes life into my soul
rejuvenates my spirit
ppl thinks she's carzy but i think she's merry
she's not overly crazy she's so enthusiastic n got such innate ability to heal herself by laughing
haha~ suitably lively and bubbly that's what i feel i truly lack in life
few pple can give me that she already stepped in and on my heart left such a deep impression
one and only kind of bubbly that doesn't piss me
haha~ u muz be careful man!!! gotta protect urself b4 u fall into it!!! muz wear life savers
haha.. how to? this time it's different
i found a treasure that's so abstract
so hard to describe the joy
i won't know if it's mine
but by discovering it i already made a name for myself
haha~ ya... plant your flag there and declare it yours!!!
haha.. she's a human not a non living thing
set her free and if she chooses u she'll be urs
haha~ ya... den she'll be truly yours!

whenever i think of you.. i realised i often think of you. and think too much of you. why can't you just disappear from my life? i'm so easily distracted. maybe attracted is a better word. i figured why. it's probably the way you take things so easily. the carefree nature of your soul captured my heart. now there's an internal struggle within me. it's difficult to let go. when i need to free you from my mind.

*mind blowing*

gave Patrick tuition. then Gen tuition. coached Lynda squash. met LJ for basketball. my Sunday's quite routined.

watched France vs England at Esther's house. France won 2-1. Zidane scored 2 goals in the last 2 minutes. freaky. England fans were gutted. utterly shocked. yeah. shock is the word. it's so cruel. hope they learn their lesson and bounce back.

*resurrecting blog*

Larry called. he's got fever. I've got flu. so no tuition. seem like some kinda bug is passing around. be careful people. today is the 3rd day of personal quarantine. felt like going out. so met LJ and BL for supper.

*updating in progress*

gave Gen tuition. Larry went out to watch Harry Potter. so no tuition for him. my throat's much better today. had been having fish porridge since yesterday. stayed home to recuperate. time passes so slowly.

*words of wisdom*

that untimely blow yesterday. suffering today. woke up with a bad throat. sore and painful. the mirror didn't reflect anything on the outside. internal injury. that must be. couldn't talk the whole day.

couldn't even say "hu" when playing MJ. when the 3 MJ kings came. i lost money in pain. (they coincidentally rhyme). my throat and heart both pained. my money is hard earned. the amount lost might seem little to others - but it's too huge a loss to me. 4 days of lunch and dinner. that's how much i simply lost. the saying: "no loss, no gain" might be true. but it surely doesn't apply on gambling when another saying goes: "ten bets, nine losses". how naive am i. always hope i don't win or lose money. 'cause i merely wanted to provide some entertainment for friends at no cost. but they wanted to gamble money and dragged me into it. i succumbed to peer pressure.

the excuses they churned for me were all sorts. - you ORD already, got so much time, where got no time to play mahjong? - don't complain, i lost even more money to others before, compared to you now. - once a while play no harm right, anyway the stakes are so small how much can you lose? - if you lose, it's equivalent to spending on two movies, just treat it as entertainment fee for your friends. i was tempted several times. each time i delayed my decision.

didn't exactly buy their reasons. knew they were wrong. but i didn't have the heart to turn down entertaining my friends. i gave in. they could afford to lose small. they had lost bigger before. i had everything to lose. 'cause i couldn't afford to lose. i am poor. MJ is a rich man's game. but it can also make a rich man poor overnight. till now did i realise i had sunk a little too deep into sh*t. i finally lost. but "no pain, no gain". i recovered my conscience. rediscovered the truth. at a small expense. i shall never gamble again.

*mind blowing*

gave Patrick tuition. coached Lynda squash. met LJ for basketball.

basketball. one of the worst sessions. the ball slammed straight into my face. 3 times. my specs flew out. 3 times. the 1st time my most presentable pair of metallic specs got so twisted. the twist - it's deemed irreversible. after that fatal 1st hit i had no choice but to substitute my metallic specs with my ACG - plastic specs. the plastic one suffered 2 severe blows but it never got outta shape.

highlight of the day. one shorty (shorter than me by nearly a head) tried to dribble past me. clumsily jumped and elbowed my throat while attempting the basket. this time LJ had to substitute me. yes. ME. nearly hammered my apple. will never play basketball with those ruffians again. my life is precious.

had dinner with LJ. supposed to drag Eddie for steamboat buffet at Turf City. but he adamantly refused to tag along. ended up eating Penang Kway Tiao and Prawn Mee at Killiney Kopitiam. lime juice was refreshing. his darling BL knocked off and met us for dessert (though we already finished it before she arrived).

reached home around 11.30pm. it was still my brother's birthday. not past midnight yet. had the last slice of chocolate cake. *yum* happy birthday.

Saturday, June 05, 2004

*wishful thinking*

gave Larry tuition. went to the World Book Fair. was in a hurry to meet dad. so didn't linger long enough at sun tec. didn't catch Lixiang. couldn't have anyway. it's really people mountain people sea (in chinese)

Friday, June 04, 2004

*blogging in progress*

gave Gen tuition. went shopping at CCK Lot1. bought some assessments for Larry. $80 on 2 branded shirts. $20 on 3 colourful Giordano tees. $100 bucks gone simply. tough luck. i'm crazy. something horrible happened. misplaced the books i bought for Larry. absent-mindedly left it unattended. $10 gone.

how absent-minded can i be? eg.: happily paid for 2 packets of chicken rice and went home. upon reaching home then i realised i didn't bring back the 2 packets.

that's quite bad rite? i know. will need to curb such frequent recurrence.

*scribblings loaded*

squashed in the evening. JCC's a nice place. quiet. serene. best place to cultivate the mind. felt different in the courts. met uncle Chris. had a game with him. can't believe i actually won. i'm finally convinced of my potential. shall strive hard to make sure i don't disappoint myself. I will be an A grader someday.

love showering at JCC. everything's provided. from towel to bathing accessories. even gel and comb. luxury. and warm water. i hate showering in the cold. probably that explains why i seldom swim. had supper with Shaun. he missed his favourite steak 'cause the stall had closed. ended up eating mixed vegs and rice. the servings were so huge and generous. totally appeased our hunger.

called Kim outta the blue. kinda remembered she should be back from France. to my surprise she really picked up the phone. it was already midnight. chatted for like ages. the student exchange wasn't exactly enriching. but at least she didn't suffer that much compared to YJ when she was in India last month. lol.

*resurrecting blog*

holiday. like it isn't one. family day is more apt. went out on a pilgrimage. vesak day. still tryin' to figure out where exactly is my faith. good friday. i need enlightenment.

NP shifted to NUS. yeah! squash and study all the way. needn't look further for a place to coach squash anymore. anyone interested in learning squash? find me!

gave Larry tuition. his mum agreed to baby-sit my sis after we shift. but only 6 months. well. guess we gotta take things one stride at a time.

*updating in progress*

met RY and his upline KT. she's quite dynamic. fits into my impression of a successful businesswoman. amazed by the way she explained things. but still i feel Lampe Berger isn't the one. though some kinda inspiration struck. i'd seen a clearer picture of how to succeed in MLM biz. action speaks louder than words.

met LJ for dinner at West Mall. not elsewhere. 'cause BL's working part-time at West Mall. BK was too just too tempting for him. trust him to suggest eating such "heaty" food when he's still sick. bummed around. broke a personal record. bought my 5th pair of shoes in a month. now i have no reason to buy shoes for a year. stepped into Harvey Norman. wanted to scout for an LCD screen which have both TV and PC connectivity. the salesman was so brilliant. introduced me to the best LCD screen. $1699. and so generously shared ALL his technical knowledge. other customers might have been bored to death. but i happened to be so interested. it's so cool. someday in the near future that LCD will be mine.

bro went touring Microsoft. got a door gift - an optical mouse. best. FOC. he's going to HP someday next week. wonder what cool gadget he'll be given. lucky guy.

Yo pple.. Can anyone suggest how i should celebrate my 21st birthday? Just tag on e board beside..

Friday, February 27, 2004

I've finally gotten over IT. It seemed impossible.. I deemed it near impossible.. but I still believe miracles do happen.. Intuition just overwhelmed me and I suddenly knew what to do.. It's unbelievable.. I feel like a bird that's been set free from a cage..

Wednesday, February 25, 2004

"My heart bleeds for you.." oh Genevieve U are so dense and crappy.. But that phrase is perhaps so true.. Just like "There's no way to happiness. Happiness is the way." I ought to realise happiness isn't a thing.

15 Things You Probably Never Knew or Thought About

1. At least 5 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. If not for you, someone may not be living.
8. You are special and unique.
9. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
10. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
11. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.
12. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it.
13. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
14. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know.
15. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

A Minute

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.

Send this phrase to the people you'll never forget and remember to send it also to the person that sent it to you. It's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them. If you don't send it to anyone, it means you're in a hurry and that you've forgot your friends.

Take the time... to live and love.

Monday, February 23, 2004

Saturday, February 21, 2004

I was blinded. Treated everyone else out in the streets like transparent glass. There I was, but elsewhere my heart was. Can't imagine I went bumming around the whole world hoping just to catch a glimpse of......

Mycroft: "love is so blind.."
Darrell: "yeah.. luv sometimes make ppl do things that cannot be explained.."
Mycroft: "yar.."
Darrell: "some ppl say only luv has no reason.."
Mycroft: "whatever.."

I realised it was the first time I fell so badly at the first hurdle..

Thursday, February 19, 2004

It doesn't seem easy to free one's mind from worries.. tried not to think too much.. somehow the discomfort's always lingering.. when i'm happy nothing bothers me too much.. but short-lived happiness gives me the feeling of emptiness coz i'll always have things to worry about..

Live simply - I don't want a complicated life. But how simple can things get? I admire William Hung. He went through the ordeal so simply while people fall off from their chairs. It's not sympathy but admiration. Few people are so innocent nowadays. Innocence is Simplicity.

Give more & Expect less.
This is so profound. Expectation is usually proportional to one's expense of effort and time. The more you give the more you'll expect in return. But if what you reaped didn't become what you sowed, you'll be either merely disappointed or utterly devastated. There's this saying that goes: Hope for the best. But prepare for the worst. "Hope" was the last thing let out of Pandora's Box and needless to say it always comes at the last minute. I better whack this into my brain and remember it by heart coz i often hope too much. It's not very reliable.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. I've been restraining and suppressing myself emotionally. It hurts badly but I must tell myself not to expect so much.

Tuesday, February 17, 2004

Five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred
2. Free your mind from worries
3. Live simply
4. Give more
5. Expect less

Sunday, February 15, 2004

People telling me age difference isn't supposed to be a barrier in a relationship. Difference in maturity of thinking is probably a more tricky and obvious barrier. I'm trying to explore that..

Being faithful is noble and righteous. But why is it also foolishness?

To me, love has always entailed an enormous amount of responsibilty.
My ideals of love are as high as the clear blue sky.
Ever hear of Calvin Klein cologne "Eternity"?
Don't understand why some people can't love deeply, passionately, lastingly & loyally.

Are you incapable of making lasting commitments?
If you are, I'll be disappointed.

Saturday, February 14, 2004

Today is Valentine's Day.
Wonder if this is the beginning of a nightmare or sweet dream.
Can't help falling in love. It's a sweet-bitter thing.
Why must the sweet part always have to come before the bitter?
I never knew the answer.
It's hard to give it all. It's even harder to not give at all.

I only know
When my heart has moved, there's no turning back.

The strong and virtuous admit no destiny.

TODAY'S INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE:

"Today I begin to understand what love must be, if it exists... When we are parted, we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves. We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost. That is what I imagine love to be: incompleteness in absence."

This level of resolve can move mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their dreams from those who live in regret."

Keep moving even as you feel yourself slowing down. Too many people use the approaching weekend as an excuse to slack off. Sometimes you do your best work when you push just a little bit harder.

TODAY'S INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE:

Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would be realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such.

yoZ.. brought my sister along to Cashew Heights where i met Yanjun for table tennis.. we were supposed to play squash at New Pioneers in the afternoon but she felt quite tired & wasn't in the mood to over-exert.. Jason also didn't feel like going so i ended up asking Yanjun to play table tennis.. brought my sister along to humour her.. my sister is cute isn't she? if only i can stop her from becoming a potentially irritating chatterbox.. when i'm out with her i usually have no chance to talk coz she'll do all the talking.. incessant noise.. i can't help wondering how come she's got so much energy.. well i guess kids are really kids man.. they ask so many questions.. after being so hyperactive she's already sound asleep while i'm still blogging.. hehe.. okie gtg sleep soon.. tataZ~

yoZ.. a relatively busy week just passed.. met tian cai on thursday evening at Adam Road Food Centre (the place near Serene Centre) for dinner.. we had nasi lemak & ice-jelly for dinner.. so appetizing! then watched the Newcastle vs Birmingham match at his house.. i managed to burn a cd containing 8 of my favourite saxophone pieces using his burner! and his computer is soooooo fast! more than 10 times faster than mine i think.. *sigh* mine's already so outdated.. dunno when i'm going to buy a new one..

woke up quite early this morning.. played table tennis with yanjun.. quite fun.. she actually knew how to play quite well.. went to queensway after that for lunch & shopped after that.. she finally bought a new pair of Adidas court shoes.. i spotted new Dunlop squash rackets for sale! they looked so cool i'm gonna get one soon.. went to train squash alone.. mastered a new skill today! my backhand volley smash's getting more powerful & accurate.. hee~

met 2 of my pri school friends for late dinner at 9pm at a hawker centre near my place.. haven't seen them for so long! tmr we've agreed to watch AC Milan vs Celtic at one of the guy's place in the morning before going swimming.. okie gtg zZz.. niteZ

yoZ.. i don't remember having a Sunday that's as memorable & happening as today.. turned down qubee's invitation for field soccer at chinese high in the morning coz it rained quite heavily the night before.. didn't wish to get myself muddy early morning.. coincidentally tioman organised basketball at our alma mater at 11 in the morning.. tian cai & his clan would be going too so i happily set off to meet them.. i was the first to reach school shortly followed by tian cai & his bro then eddie.. tioman made everyone wait for him till 12.30! by that time we had already thought of how to "tekan" him.. Yes! Lunch on him! organiser yet the last to turn up.. we wrapped up the last game around 2 o'clock.. only 3 of us proceeded to bukit timah market for lunch.. tioman, tian cai & me coz the rest didn't want to come.. 3 of us were so famished.. i really missed the good food there.. and that was a free lunch.. more to come later! we left tioman who was waiting for his mum to fetch him home & we went to cashew heights..

*sidetrack abit* saw Weijia alight from 157 at shells after lunch.. was so surprised to see her but we couldn't talk for long coz the 171 i wanted to take was right behind..

met Yanjun & Jason for basketball again.. tian cai's brother also made his own way there after he went home for lunch.. hee~ got to know a new basketball friend Keith (who also lives at cashew heights) & his gf Gywen.. they are really nice pple.. Jason's brother, Jonathan, celebrated his 18th birthday today in advance (actual birthday's on 22nd).. he had invited his friends & us to a bbq party at the poolside.. yup free bbq dinner after basketball!! =)

there were 2 distinct groups.. one small group of young adults (Jason, Yanjun, Keith, Gywen, Lingjun & his brother & me) and the other (Jonathan's big group of teenage friends).. our group played cards for a while and then chatted for very long.. different frequency from Jon's friends who were bustling with adrenaline i guess.. i feel i'm already getting old.. heh.. but all in all it was a memorable gathering which ended sooner than expected coz the next day would be a working day..

weijia -- long time no see! hope u are doing fine gal, sorry couldn't chat longer with u maybe we can meet up next time? take care~
